Charles M. Gibbs, Partner

Charles focuses his practice on criminal defense law, political and election law, and municipal law.

Charles Gibbs is a fierce trial attorney, zealous advocate for clients, and trusted public figure. He has appeared in federal and state courts on behalf of governmental entities, individuals wrongly injured by the negligence of others, individuals charged with crimes, and nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Gibbs’ early career involved service in local judiciary and government positions. Prior to his practicing law, Charles worked on and managed numerous political campaigns in Philadelphia.  

As a partner at Green, Schafle & Gibbs, Charles has been able to channel his political acumen into an innovative and thriving practice area: the Political Law practice group. He has widely been acknowledged by his peers and the media as one of the premier election attorneys in Philadelphia. He currently serves as the Solicitor of Darby and Yeadon Boroughs.

A graduate of Temple University, Mr. Gibbs earned his J.D. cum laude from Widener University School of Law, where he served as Vice President for the Moot Court Honor Society and President of the Black Law Students Association.

Mr. Gibbs’ dedication to his clients has earned him numerous professional awards and accolades. Most recently, Charles was named as one of the Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and as a “Keeper” by Leadership Philadelphia. He was recognized as “Lawyer on the Fast Track”  by the Philadelphia Legal Intelligencer. From 2012-207, he earned a place on the Rising Stars List for the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers®. He was inducted into the West Catholic High School Hall of Fame. In 2014, he was named “Outstanding Young Lawyer” by the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia.

An active member of his local community, Charles currently serves as the President of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia. The Barristers represents the interest of over 1000 predominantly black attorneys and judges in the Philadelphia area. He is also acting co-chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association City Policy Committee and serves on the Board of Directors for the Defender Association of Philadelphia and the Jenkins Law Library.

Charles is married to Monica Gibbs, Esq., and the proud father of Charleston.
